Design of a dewatering system for a geothermally influenced underground gold mine

The Cerro Blanco underground gold mine is located in Guatemala within the Mita province geothermal system. Groundwater temperatures within the deposit range from 70?C to 160?C. Therefore, depression of the groundwater below the mine workings is necessary to facilitate mining. The objective of the dewatering is to depress the groundwater level by approximately 200 meters within five years. Authors: Roman Popielak, Joanna Moreno, Arlen Striegl.
